The Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been marred by controversy after the third Test match between India and Australia at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar has expressed his disappointment at the nature of the pitch, calling it a “mockery of Test cricket”.

Vengsarkar, who played 116 Tests for India, said that the pitch was “unfit for Test cricket” and that it was “not a fair contest between bat and ball”. He added that the pitch was “too flat and too slow” and that it was “not conducive to good cricket”.

The former Indian captain also criticised the Indian team for their performance on the pitch, saying that they “failed to adjust to the conditions”. He said that the team should have “played more aggressively” and “taken more risks” in order to make the most of the conditions.

Vengsarkar also criticised the BCCI for allowing such a pitch to be used for a Test match. He said that the board should have “taken more responsibility” and “ensured that the pitch was suitable for Test cricket”.

The former Indian cricketer also said that the pitch was “not a true reflection of the quality of cricket” and that it was “not a fair contest between bat and ball”. He added that the pitch was “not conducive to good cricket” and that it was “a mockery of Test cricket”.

Vengsarkar’s comments have been echoed by many other former cricketers, who have also expressed their disappointment at the nature of the pitch. The BCCI has yet to respond to the criticism, but it is clear that the pitch at the Holkar Stadium in Indore has been a major talking point in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
