Maharashtra government: A case for Vinayak Savarkar’s Bharat Ratna.

TelevisionMaharashtra government: A case for Vinayak Savarkar's Bharat Ratna.

The Maharashtra government’s decision to recommend the Bharat Ratna for Vinayak Savarkar has opened up a can of worms in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. The Shiv Sena, which is a part of the MVA, has been vocal in its support for the Bharat Ratna for Savarkar, while the NCP and Congress have been more circumspect.

The Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde, who is the Minister for Public Works in the Maharashtra government, has been the most vocal in his support for the Bharat Ratna for Savarkar. He has been quoted as saying that Savarkar was a great patriot and that he deserved the highest civilian honour. He has also said that the Bharat Ratna should be given to Savarkar as a mark of respect for his contribution to the freedom struggle.

The NCP and Congress, however, have been more circumspect in their approach. While they have not opposed the idea of the Bharat Ratna for Savarkar, they have also not been as vocal in their support for the same. This is because Savarkar has been a controversial figure in Indian history. He has been accused of being a supporter of the Hindu Mahasabha and of having links with the RSS.

The NCP and Congress have also been wary of the fact that the Bharat Ratna for Savarkar could open up fault lines in the MVA government. This is because the Shiv Sena has been vocal in its support for the Bharat Ratna for Savarkar, while the NCP and Congress have been more circumspect. This could lead to a rift between the two parties, which could have a negative impact on the functioning of the MVA government.

The Shiv Sena, however, has been adamant in its support for the Bharat Ratna for Savarkar. Eknath Shinde has been quoted as saying that the Bharat Ratna should be given to Savarkar as a mark of respect for his contribution to the freedom struggle. He has also said that the Bharat Ratna should be given to Savarkar as a symbol of the nation’s gratitude for his contribution to the freedom struggle.

The NCP and Congress, however, have been more circumspect in their approach. They have said that the Bharat Ratna should be given to Savarkar only if it is in accordance with the Constitution and the law of the land. They have also said that the Bharat Ratna should be given to Savarkar only if it is in accordance with the principles of secularism and social justice.

The Bharat Ratna for Vinayak Savarkar is a contentious issue and it has the potential to open up fault lines in the MVA government. The Shiv Sena has been vocal in its support for the Bharat Ratna for Savarkar, while the NCP and Congress have been more circumspect. It remains to be seen how the MVA government will handle this issue and whether it will be able to maintain its unity in the face of this controversy.
