Pep Guardiola has expressed his delight at Manchester City’s performance in their 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Citizens were in control for much of the game, with goals from Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Bernardo Silva securing the three points.
Speaking after the game, Guardiola said he was “very pleased” with his side’s display.
“We played very well,” he said. “We controlled the game from the beginning and we created a lot of chances. We scored three goals and we could have scored more.
“Bournemouth are a very good team and they made it difficult for us, but we were able to control the game and get the win.”
The victory was City’s fourth in a row in the Premier League and moved them up to second in the table, just two points behind leaders Liverpool.
Guardiola was also pleased with the way his side defended, with Bournemouth managing just one shot on target throughout the game.
“We defended very well,” he said. “We were very compact and we didn’t give them any space. We were very focused and we didn’t give them any chances.”
The win was City’s sixth in a row in all competitions and Guardiola believes his side are now in a good position to challenge for the title.
“We are in a good moment,” he said. “We are playing well and we are getting results. We have to keep going and keep improving if we want to challenge for the title.”
