The first over of the Indore Test between India and Australia saw a dramatic start as the visitors missed two chances to dismiss India skipper Rohit Sharma.
The first chance came when Mitchell Starc bowled a full delivery outside off-stump. Rohit Sharma went for the drive but the ball took the outside edge of his bat and flew towards the slip cordon. However, the ball went between the two slips and the chance was missed.
The second chance came when Starc bowled a short delivery outside off-stump. Rohit Sharma went for the pull shot but the ball took the top edge of his bat and flew towards the mid-wicket region. However, the ball went between the two fielders and the chance was missed.
Rohit Sharma survived the first over and went on to score a half-century in the first innings. His innings was crucial in helping India post a competitive total on the board.
The missed chances were a reminder of how important it is for the fielding side to take their chances in Test cricket. Australia will be hoping that they don’t rue the missed chances in the Indore Test.
