Russia has expressed its gratitude to Bangladesh for abstaining from voting on a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) resolution on Ukraine.

The resolution, which was passed on December 19, 2019, condemned Russia’s actions in Ukraine and called for the immediate withdrawal of Russian forces from the country.

Russia’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Ignatov thanked Bangladesh for its decision to abstain from voting on the resolution.

“We are grateful to the Government of Bangladesh for its decision to abstain from voting on the resolution,” Ignatov said in a statement.

He added that the resolution was “unbalanced” and “politically motivated” and that it ignored the “real situation” in Ukraine.

“We believe that the resolution does not contribute to the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine,” Ignatov said.

The resolution was passed with a majority of votes in favor, but Bangladesh was one of the countries that abstained from voting.

Bangladesh’s decision to abstain from voting on the resolution was welcomed by Russia, which has been accused of violating international law in Ukraine.

Russia has been accused of supporting separatists in eastern Ukraine and of illegally annexing the Crimean peninsula in 2014.

The UNGA resolution called on Russia to immediately withdraw its forces from Ukraine and to respect the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

It also called on Russia to stop its support for the separatists and to allow for the full implementation of the Minsk agreements, which are aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine.

Russia has denied any involvement in the conflict in Ukraine and has accused the West of interfering in the country’s internal affairs.

Bangladesh’s decision to abstain from voting on the resolution was seen as a sign of support for Russia’s position on the conflict in Ukraine.

The two countries have a long history of cooperation and have developed strong ties in recent years.

Bangladesh and Russia have signed several agreements in the fields of energy, trade, and investment.

The two countries have also been working together to promote regional peace and stability.

Russia’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Ignatov thanked Bangladesh for its decision to abstain from voting on the resolution and expressed hope that the two countries would continue to work together to promote peace and stability in the region.
