Exit polls in India’s northeastern states of Tripura and Meghalaya have given mixed results, with the BJP-IPFT alliance predicted to win in Tripura and the National People’s Party (NPP) led by former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma likely to emerge as the single largest party in Meghalaya.
The India Today-Axis My India exit poll has predicted a clear majority for the BJP-IPFT alliance in Tripura, with the alliance predicted to win 43-49 seats in the 60-member assembly. The poll has predicted that the Left Front, which has been in power in the state for the past 25 years, will win 11-17 seats.
In Meghalaya, the India Today-Axis My India exit poll has predicted that the NPP will emerge as the single largest party with 22-30 seats in the 60-member assembly. The Congress is predicted to win 16-22 seats, while the BJP is predicted to win 4-8 seats.
The Republic-CVoter exit poll has predicted a close fight between the BJP-IPFT alliance and the Left Front in Tripura, with the alliance predicted to win 28-36 seats and the Left Front predicted to win 24-32 seats.
In Meghalaya, the Republic-CVoter exit poll has predicted that the NPP will emerge as the single largest party with 24-30 seats, followed by the Congress with 18-24 seats and the BJP with 4-8 seats.
The exit polls have predicted a close fight in both states, with the BJP-IPFT alliance and the NPP likely to emerge as the single largest parties in Tripura and Meghalaya respectively. The results of the assembly elections in both states will be declared on March 3.
